Introduce a Magician, an Author, and/or help lead a Read Aloud for Kwanzaa

Hi families of past and present CDF Freedom Schools Scholars and Wasaidizi.

We have a leadership opportunities for our Freedom Schools children and youth:

(1) introduce magician Nicole Cardoza at BookPeople on North Lamar/6th St, Saturday, October 7, 11:30 am (please arrive at 10:30 am so we can practice). Here's info about the The Magic Power of Reading event

(2) introduce an author at the Texas Book Festival (which will be held downtown, outside under white tents on South Congress near the State Capitol Building, Sunday, November 12, 12:00 pm-12:30 pm). Arrive at 11:00 am to review our Cheers and Chants and practice reading the bio.

(3) help lead Cheers and Chants and participate in a Freedom Schools style read-aloud on stage as part of the Carver Museum's annual Kwanzaa celebration, on SATURDAY, December 30, 1pm - 3 pm (Arrive by 12 pm to get ready. Thursday, December 28, 4-7pm, Rehearsal/run of show). 

Let us know if you are interested in being part of a small group of Freedom Schools scholars and wasaidizi who participate in the program on stage at a public event.

(Of course we'll give them the short reading ahead of time, so they can practice reading aloud, and we'll review the Cheers and Chants which they already know.)
